 | Using the logic probe : |
- Power up the uLAB
- connect the power leads of the logic probe to the power connection at the top of
the uLAB. Red lines to +5 and the black to ground connection,
- verify the operation of the probe by placing the its tip on the +5 source and
notice that the light is brightly lit.
- examine different places of the ulab and notice the changes in the indicator
lamp.
- Try to figure out the Vcc pins and the ground pin of some chips.
 | Using the logic pulsar+logic probe: |
- Program the pulsar to pulse specific pulse while pulsing touch the probe
tip and notice that the probe lamp is flashing at the same time the pulsar flashes.
- repeat step 2 using different frequency.
- Power up the ulAB
- connect the power leads of the logic pulsar and the logic probe to the power
connection in the top of the uLAB.
- using the logic porbe examine different nodes in the ulab. Then use the logic
pulsar to produce pluses to override the circuit pulses examine different chips in
the uLAB .
- power of the lab and then inject some pulses and detect them using the probe.
- try to inject different kind of pulses to some chips pins and observe the output
using the probe.
 | Using the current tracer + the logic
pulser: |
- power up the uLAB .
- touch the tip of the current tracer to the data bus in the ulAB and adjust the
current sensitivity of the current tracer utill the lamp near the top show half
brightness.
- trace the current in the printed circuit in the uLAB and notice the brightness
off the lamp .
- power of the uLAB and then try to inject certain pulses to some nodes and then
trace the current using the current tracer.
 | Troubleshooting Exercise: |
- Set up the uLAB .
- D0 hole using a 100 Hz.
- place the current tracer on the pulser and set the sensitivity to produce a dim
.
- using he current tracer follow the current on the D0 line to the left and to the
right of the pulsar .notice that the lamp of the current tracer remain off. That's mean the
current takes a different way than left or right
- pull up the board with the black knob on the right of the board. While still
pulsing D0,follow the current on the back of the board .You should find that the current
path is upward and into the pin 14 of U5.
- using the same method determine where lines D3,D5 and D7 go. (answer:D3=U5
pin11, D5=U6 pin13 ,D7=D6 pin 11)
